Applying for Financial Aid

If you are a fully online student, you should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible to maximize your options for financial aid resources. The FAFSA is available October 1 of each academic year (NOTE: The 2024-2025 FAFSA will be available in December 2023). Be sure to add Rutgers school code 002629 so the Office of Financial Aid receives your FAFSA.

Financial aid eligibility is determined each semester in part by your enrollment status: full time, three-quarter time, half time, or less than halftime. Know your school’s enrollment definitions.

Notifications: Documents and Rutgers Financial Aid Awards

Our office will notify you via email if you are required to submit any additional verification documentation after submitting your FAFSA. You should submit these documents as soon as you can to avoid delays in your financial aid.

After all verification documents have been submitted and reviewed, you will receive an email notification that your Rutgers Financial Aid awards are available. You may be offered grants or scholarships, federal work-study, and/or loans to help pay the cost of attending Rutgers.
